Woke Is Broke But Same Still THE Game?

Some academics say American exceptionalism is “running on fumes” as “wok ideology stifles creativity & meritocracy” to turn us into mediocrities. But, how do you explain today’s mania for fame, fortune & undefeated seasons?

The Fox News story supposedly signaling our bleak future was, well, pretty bleak: “The nation now faces an identity crisis, historians & scholar [say], as powerful forces armed by woke ideology & fealty to big government stifle the individualism & creativity that fueled American exceptionalism for 250 years.” A separate Fox story speaks to such Gen Z attitudes as “shaping itself into the ‘Wasted Generation.’”

Not that facts mentioned in each article aren’t arguably right, but are we so sure about the conclusions? Having grown up surrounded by “The Greatest Generation” consisting of WWII vets, then, immersed in the riotous Civil Rights/Vietnam War chaos of the 1960s, this Baby Boomer can’t help wondering if “the more things change the more they stay the same” isn’t sort of what we’re really experiencing now … as always. Yes, we’re stuck in woke muck right now. But, show me a Gen Z female who wouldn’t give her left breast to be success-driven Taylor Swift or a Gen Z male who wouldn’t give his right testicle to replace insanely over-committed Travis Kelce on the gridiron for one game. Rest my case.
