Would Fear Mongering Biden Say Lincoln Should’ve Been Dumped?

Our Time Machine says Abe Lincoln in 1864 was sure just months before the presidential election he’d lose big. The “polls” of the day…newspapers & word of mouth…convinced him of impending doom. A recent USA Today op ed also noted, “The odds stood against Lincoln for reelection as the Civil War raged on” & asked “Will history repeat itself in 2020?”

Well, it usually does. Military buffs will recall how the Union Army was getting whipped by the rebels, even though Lincoln did everything conceivable to find the “General” who could “do the math”, i.e., understand the enemy’s weakness (fewer men). He eventually found U.S. Grant &, the man Mary Lincoln called “Butcher,” out-slugged Robert E. Lee the next 12 months. Likewise, President Trump emphasized in that recent ABC Town Hall meeting he’d done “everything possible” to fight the killer China virus while trying to keep the panicking nation calm until the right general aka vaccine could be found. Enter Pfizer & a host of other pharma giants, whom Mr. Trump announced, have vaccines in the final stages and are already being produced to begin distribution by the U.S. Army “in weeks.”

Are those vaccines made in record speed another game changer? In shades of the 1864 campaign, Joe Biden & Never Trumpers are fear mongering by suggesting POTUS & the pharma companies are pulling a fast one. But, as Abe might remind, Americans “can’t be fooled all the time…most will recognize & reward honestly herculean effort when they see it.”
