Zuck’s Meta Plan Ducks Reality?

Meta’s disappointing revenue numbers & sinking share price may be darkening Zuckerberg’s “dream” but maybe if Zuck spent more time on his own creative strengths & core biz rather than duck out to dabble in politics …

As the WSJ story warned, “Facebook parent can’t sell the [Meta] vision if it continues to lose its reality … [i.e.,] Mark Zuckerberg wants to sell the world his ‘amazing’ $1,500 virtual-reality headset. But there are so many other numbers to sell first.” Like Meta Platforms’ third quarter revenue falling 4% year on year, its second consecutive quarter of annual declines; meanwhile, net income fell 52%. Then, “Wall Street, already spooked by competitors’ disappointing prints over the past week, compounded the stock’s 60%-plus loss this year, sending the shares down another 19% after hours.”

Team Zuck’s response, i.e., besides watching their personal fortunes sink as well? We’re told Meta is following the Jimmy Carter zero base accounting game plan by “making changes across the board to operate more efficiently.” And, if that doesn’t sell, we’re fed the Joe Biden punt aka “wait ‘til next year” diversion. Dunno. Seems Zuck’s Meta dream could have been fulfilled over an extended period of time rather than overnight? Just askin’…
